UP Police to setup hi-tech lab to counter cybercrimes in state

The UP authorities are planning to establish a state-of-the-art cybercrime prevention lab in Lucknow which will help keep a tab on cybercrimes and criminals.

Seventy per cent of the Indian population is unaware of the types of cybercrimes that get people in trouble. Seeing that, Uttar Pradesh has already been holding workshops in various cities to educate people about cybercrimes with the help of information technology experts.

Now, the UP authorities are planning to establish a state-of-the-art cybercrime prevention lab in Lucknow which will help keep a tab on cybercrimes and criminals.

Talking to India Today, UP DGP OP Singh said that there are over 4,000 pending cases of cybercrimes in the state and the setting up of this lab will help in an early resolution of these cases. Two cyber police stations will also be opened in Lucknow and Noida, while IT-savvy police officers will be posted in the cybercrime cells of various districts to counter the challenges posed by the rapidly evolving cybercriminals.
