VIJAYAWADA: DGP N. Sambasiva Rao said that the police department is increasing its standards every year in the field of technology, thereby reducing burden on police. In a press conference held at Police Head Quarters in Mangalagiri after the Police Commemoration Day parade at IGMC stadium, the DGP said that the police department is introducing reforms in strengthening the services and constructing 100 model police stations. “Tech Police is the next big thing in AP. The proposed 100 model police stations will be readied in two months and police officials will then work in a comfortable environment. Gone are the days where police treat people harshly and work in an unpleasant environment.
We are aiming to transform all the stations in the State to model stations. Technology will play a major role,” he said. Sambasiva Rao praised the efforts of police for keeping the law and order situation under control during massive human gatherings like Krishna Pushkarams and Tuni Arson. Rao also said State police department has entered into an MoU with State Bank of India (SBI) to give `30 lakh insurance to all police personnel in the State free of cost.
The new policy AP Police Salary Package (APPSP) will be offered in four variants - Silver, Gold, Diamond and Platinum, based on the cadre of the officer. Under this, salary accounts of personnel will be transferred to SBI from where they will get a benefit of `30 lakh free insurance policy. There will also be an exemption in transactions and complimentary benefits like insurance, fast approved loans and pension schemes.
Rao said the State police is rendering invaluable service to the people and the State Government is also introducing reforms to enhance the efficiency of the police department. “We are doing all that we can do to allot individual house to every police officer in the State. Quarters for IPS and other officers will be constructed under Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode in the first phase. We have sent the proposals to AP Police Housing Corporation and will materialize the plan soon,” he told.

ACT donates K25 lakh
Vijayawada: ACT Private limited, a pioneer in providing fiber net in AP and Telangana donated H25 lakh to the State police department for the welfare of police. On the occasion of Police Commemoration day, vice-presidents of ACT private limited Kapil Chug and Sunil Yajaman handed over the cheque to Home minister Nimmakayala Chinnarajappa. Expressing happiness, police officials said that the donation money will be used for construction of model police stations in the State.
